Built on a medical college. Grown into 13 schools.
Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth began with the Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, under the leadership of Dr. D. Y. Patil. What started as a medical institution is now a private, non-profit university with 13 schools covering biotechnology, healthcare, management, commerce, design and law.
In 2003, the University Grants Commission granted it university status under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. The DPU Centre for Online Learning runs on that same academic backbone, so the online B.Com you study from Ahmedabad carries the same university name as a degree earned on campus.
